Hello lovelies, today I am talking all about our online Zero waste Christmas Market. Christmas markets aren’t the same this year, but never fear our zero waste Christmas Market will still be happening, it will just be online instead.
Did you know that over the festive period we generate up to 30 times more waste than normal? That’s about 3 million tonnes of waste.
Also approx. £32 million of unwanted Christmas presents are thrown into landfill each year. It is truly shocking. Let’s not be part of the problem, instead we can be the solution.
This year I have pledged to only buy sustainable Christmas gifts from local suppliers. I am also planning on giving gifts that people will actually use and enjoy. No more tat to fluff up a gift or make it look fuller! You can do this too by coming to our online market.
The Market will start on the 27th of November and will continue on Saturday the 28th. Lets turn Black Friday Green by shopping locally with sustainable brands.
The online Market will take place in the Eco Friendly Dundee Facebook Group (Click here to join the group). It will feature local sustainable businesses showcasing their products along with live demonstrations for you to enjoy. If you don’t use Facebook that’s ok, I am going to link all of the suppliers in this blog post and you can go straight to their website to shop with and support them.
This year we have decided to turn our Zero Waste Christmas market into a community fundraiser.
Without a doubt it has been a really difficult year all around. At The Little Green Larder we worked hard over lockdown to ensure we kept the people in our community fed and raised money for local community groups and charities.
We have decided to launch a community fundraiser to help those in need in Dundee over the festive period.
All of the money that we raise will be used to help those in our community. Whether it is buying food packages to distribute to those in need, gifting a local cafe voucher to a homeless person or donating pet food to a local shelter. Rest assured, all of the money we raise will be spent in our community with the sole purpose of helping others who are in need in our community.
100% of the stall holder fee’s will also be donated to the fundraiser.
We will also have a Zero Waste Christmas Hamper raffle. All you have to do to be entered into the draw is make a donation to this page. Suggested raffle donation is £3 (however every donation made will enter you into the draw.) The winner can collect the hamper from The Little Green Larder in Dundee.
